With over 20 years of dedicated experience in the home health and hospice industry, Debra has established herself as a strategic clinical consultant specializing in operational excellence and regulatory compliance. As Vice President of Clinical Compliance at SimiTree, she provides comprehensive support to healthcare organizations navigating the complex landscape of home health, hospice, and home care consulting, Medicare audits, and regulatory requirements.


Her expertise spans critical areas including TPE Audits, UPIC Audits, RAC Audits, ALJ Expert Witness, and post-acute regulatory compliance. She works closely with agencies to develop robust survey readiness strategies, conduct clinical due diligence, and implement comprehensive compliance risk assessments. Through meticulous clinical and billing audits, she helps organizations transform regulatory challenges into opportunities for growth and operational improvement.

 

Laurie Newlun

Laurie Newlun joined the team as a Senior Manager in 2021 and provides Compliance, Regulatory and Quality Consulting for home health and hospice organizations. A Tennessee resident, she has more than 20 years of experience serving home health and hospice organizations with focused expertise in hospice and palliative care across clinical operations, quality management, and corporate compliance in both hospital and communitybased settings.

Certified in healthcare compliance and healthcare privacy by the Health Care Compliance Association, she is a former national director of palliative and advanced illness and a hospice accreditation site visitor with the Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP), where she supported hospice initiatives and the development and implementation of communitybased palliative care standards.
